Air Force Awards Construction Contract for Tinian Airfield

Modernizing Military Infrastructure on Strategic Pacific Island

Enhancing Operational Capabilities in the Indo-Pacific Region

The United States Air Force has awarded a contract for the construction of an airfield on Tinian, a strategic island in the Pacific Ocean. This project is part of the Air Force's ongoing efforts to modernize its infrastructure and enhance its operational capabilities in the Indo-Pacific region.

According to Gen. Kenneth Wilsbach, commander of Pacific Air Forces, the Tinian North airfield will provide the military with a dedicated space to operate independently. This will significantly increase the Air Force's flexibility and resilience in carrying out its missions in the region.

The construction of the airfield will involve the renovation of existing facilities and the construction of new ones, including runways, hangars, and support buildings. The project is expected to be completed in the coming years and will allow the Air Force to operate a wider range of aircraft from Tinian, including the largest B-29 bombers.
